To strengthen our Civil Design Engineering team, we are seeking to appoint an Assistant Infrastructure Design Engineer in our Nottingham office. The successful candidate will join an existing team of engineers, providing support on a range of drainage and infrastructure projects across the central/east of England and supporting other offices throughout the country. You will be a major player in the future development of our capability in the central/east. With an extensive client list including the Environment Agency, Water Authorities, and private clients, as well as internal markets within Atkins such as our Transportation Business, we offer opportunities to further your career and advancement within the Company. The role will include responsibility for: - Assisting in the design and construction of civil engineering projects including liaison with the client and financial performance
- Assist in the preparation of conceptual designs
- Assisting the team in the role of delivering schemes
- To compliment and assist in the expansion of the existing team while looking forward to developing their expertise in this market.
- Providing a range of technical solutions for regeneration projects
- Identifying and highlight to the team potential risks and issues that need to be addressed that could affect the delivery of a project
- Typical design work will include design of access, spine road and distributor road layouts, roundabouts, junction layouts, public and private drainage systems including flooding and associated risk assessment and surface water management issues.
The successful candidate will have the ability and confidence to work as an individual or as part of a team. They will be highly motivated and focussed on delivering projects to the required standard and time-scale, blending their own established technical expertise with that of other disciplines to manage and deliver projects. Qualifications - Civil Engineering degree or equivalent
Experience (Essential) - Appropriate and sufficient level of experience and knowledge within a related position
- Knowledge of CAD (highways drainage and external works)
- Computer literate (MS Excel and Word, PDS, Microdrainage)
- Demonstratable working knowledge of Highways Specifications for Local Authorities and DMRB.
- Highway alignment Design and external works design including knowledge of pavement design. Experience of S278, S38 processes and Liaison with appropriate authorities. An awareness of other highway interfaces e.g. signs and lining
- Adoptable and private drainage design. Knowledge of adoption processes
- Practical knowledge of CDM requirements
- Experience of SUDs
- Experience of Regeneration and Development Projects
- Good standard of written English and report writing skills
