An opportunity exist within our Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) business for an Engineer to be based in Birmingham. As the UK's leading consultancy in road and transport technology, we assist our clients to reduce congestion, operate safe and reliable transport networks and improve the environment through technology. Our project Managers are tasked with managing a variety of projects ranging in value and complexity. We design and supervise the construction of multi-million pound projects for our clients. Typical projects include: - Managed Motorway Schemes – by using the hard shoulder and installing technology on the strategic road network we are able to reduce congestion and control traffic flows without the need for additional land.
- Integrated Traffic Management Schemes – this technical approach, which requires commitment from the Highways Agency and other neighbouring highway authorities, integrates the operation of ramp metering with the operation of the adjacent traffic signal controller to better manage the combined network.
- Incident Detection and Queue Protection Schemes – the system uses a series of inductive loop data gathered from the road to detect anomalies in traffic flow. These inform Regional Control Centres who can then set signals to reflect real time traffic conditions.
