Teachers in mainstream education rarely have the time or resources to meet the emotional and behavioural needs of their students in the way that an Education Centre can. An encouraging, small and well-resourced provision can support pupils and make a difference. If you are strong-minded and emotionally resilient, you will find this job extremely fulfilling. You will work with small groups and individual emotionally vulnerable and medically unwell Key Stage Three and Four pupils, raising standards across the Centre. Job purpose To provide effective and relevant education for pupils educated out of school and assist in the successful reintegration of pupils. • To teach at least one of the following subjects up to and including GCSE level: English, Science, ICT • Key Stage Three and Four Essential knowledge, skills & experience Skills •Current knowledge of subjects employed to teach •Ability to write clear reports •Ability to communicate with a wide range of people •Clear strategies for working with challenging pupils Interpersonal skills •Ability to work constructively with pupils with complex needs •Ability to negotiate with mainstream school staff •Ability to work in a team Background •Evidence of successful work with disaffected and emotionally vulnerable pupils Job Demands •Ability to cope with emotionally demanding pupils and situations •Ability to resolve conflict Special Circumstances •Ability to teach (disaffected and emotionally vulnerable) pupils effectively across a wide ability range •A willingness to respond flexibly to the needs of a small team •A commitment to maintaining pupils in mainstream schools Desirable knowledge, skills & experience •Ability to work effectively with colleagues in mainstream schools Special Circumstances •Ability to self motivate and maintain clear and accurate records
