To undertake the professional responsibilities of a class teacher, as set out in the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document, in addition, have an impact beyond own pupils, influence practice of others positively and be accountable for managing and developing learning in unit of school. 1. Organise and enhance the curriculum provision for the unit with a major emphasis on teaching and learning. 2. Lead planning sessions for the unit, keeping records of teaching and learning. 3. Monitor teaching and learning vigorously for unit, in line with school policy. Keep records and examples of learning in unit, for all subjects. 4. Have constant overview of teaching and learning in the unit, for all subjects, and develop learning provision where appropriate. 5. Ensure that, within unit, and continuing from previous units, there is progression of learning across all national curriculum subjects. 6. Ensure all class teachers send homework on a weekly basis and that reading at home is encouraged as much as possible. 7. Research, risk assess, plan and organize necessary curriculum enhancements such as trips, theatre groups, topic launches and themed weeks. 8. Ensure assessment procedures are followed by all staff. Ensure all staff monitor learning and give effective feedback to further learning for all children, in all subjects. 9. Liaise, as appropriate, with HSLO, encouraging community links which will enhance parental involvement and teaching and learning. 10. Ensure all classes have high quality, display, including balance of children’s work and teaching aids. Aid the consistency of displays throughout the unit. 11. Have a good knowledge of the progress and achievement of the children within the unit across all curriculum areas. 12. Develop action plans and evaluate their impact on learning and review actions. Resources & routines 1. Manage resources for unit, including storage and care of existing resources and ordering of new resources. 2. Manage a budget for unit resources, ensuring all necessary curriculum equipment is in supply ready for each academic year. 3. Deal with daily routines of unit. (Timetables, staff deployment, supply arrangements, assemblies, etc.) 4. To plan, deliver and evaluate unit assemblies. Job Type: Contract/Temp Location: United Kingdom Durham
