£13,186 p.a. (£7,129 pro rata) To provide a welcoming and safe environment for all Lifelong Learning centre users; to ensure the security of the building and its contents; to maintain the high standards of cleanliness and undertake porterage and handyperson duties Duties will include: 1. To be responsible for opening up centres, and providing a welcoming and safe environment for all centres users. 2. To be responsible for the security of the premises and its contents (including the operation of fire and burglar alarms, fire warden and keyholder responsibilities). 3. To be responsible for lighting, heating and cleaning of premises including maintenance and operation of plant. 4. To undertake porterage and handyperson duties 5. To be responsible for the replacement of consumables e.g. paper towels, toilet rolls etc. 6. To receive and check deliveries of cleaning and heating materials. 7. To help to promote the Centre: (a) with the general public by answering telephone calls and queries at the door, (b) with part-time staff and learners by preparing rooms for classes, including setting up furniture and equipment and also generally directing people to their rooms and (c) with community members preparing rooms, helping with problems and providing personal input into activities, e.g. parties. (d) To run the canteen serving teas and coffees etc. as required, at various times throughout the day and evening, taking and accounting money. 8. To keep the outside of the building tidy and ensure drains are clear of rubbish. 9. To undertake such other duties which may arise from the use of the premises, including health and safety duties. 10. To complete all necessary paperwork in line with Service/Council policies. All duties must be carried out to comply with: (i) The Health and Safety at Work Act. (ii) Acts of Parliament, Statutory Instruments and Regulations and other legal requirements. (iii) Nationally agreed Codes of Practice which are relevant. All duties will be carried out in the working conditions normally inherent in the job.
