Responsibilities
- Provide break/fix and IMAC support for server estate, including MS Exchange, Active Directory, DCs, print services, Citrix Farms, content filtering solutions, proxy servers, VMware platforms.
- Provide maintenance duties for operations systems within defined business processes.
- Provide innovative design and architecture for future server technologies.
- Carry out maintenance tasks on anti-virus systems within business security standards / policies.
- Assist in design of desktop technologies and application packaging.
- Responsible for maintaining records in CMDB.
- Create and maintain reference architecture documentation.
- Work closely with Service Delivery in designing, planning and deploying new solutions and technologies.
- Participate in DR plan tests and maintenance.
- Coordinate tasks within the team structure – prioritising, escalating, incident handling.
- Perform routine system maintenance and monitoring tasks and respond accordingly.
- Execute and monitor routine processing of jobs and take corrective action where necessary.
- Liaise with third party vendors where necessary to ensure routine maintenance and reactive break-fix support is undertaken.
- Undertake periodical metrics collation and report accordingly.
- Undertake periodical audit tasks to ensure compliance with Business Controls.
- Work within the best practices within the ITIL framework – especially Change Management, Problem Management and Major Incident.
- Perform any related tasks deemed necessary by the Infrastructure Operations Team Lea
- Skills and Qualifications
Appropriate level of technical understanding of technologies and standards used:
- Windows Server 2000, 2003
- Citrix platforms, troubleshooting and administration
- Networking Concepts, Cabling Technologies
- Server Room Technology and best practice
- UPS devices and implementation
- Microsoft Active Directory
- Print services
- Hardware – Dell, HP, Toshiba, Canon, Alcatel, Enterasys
- Backup Solutions for large networks
- Microsoft Exchange and clustering
- MS SQL installations
- Virtualisation technologies, design and administration
- DNS, DHCP, WINS, ITIL
All core competencies important but particularly:
