We are recruiting for our Policy and Strategy team. Based in the Town Hall as part of the Strategy and Partnerships division, this team works alongside Equalities, Performance and Knowledge, and Improvement and Delivery, to drive forward the work of the Council and to prepare us for the future. If you enjoy thinking your way through complex problems, developing new ideas, and would like to play your part in managing and developing the Policy team, this could be the role for you. We are looking for a self-starter to help take forward Policy, directly line-managing three members of the team, and assisting the Head of Policy and the Director of Strategy and Partnerships. You will have good relationship-building and influencing skills, and will be politically astute and sensitive. You will have the ability to work independently, to think creatively and have an excellent track record in policy development or a related area. You will be a good collaborator and interested in testing ideas and approaches. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to present information and arguments clearly to a range of audiences. You will be able to plan work programmes and lead teams effectively. We are looking for someone who wants to build on their experience of policy and local government, and can capably take on a senior role with line management responsibility, and have a real influence on the direction of the policy team.
