Job DescriptionMaterials Integrity Group (MIG) is responsible for providing advice, guidance, support and analytical services across a range of materials and monitoring activities to MoD Project Teams and Front Line Commands, in support of Military Aviation. As part of the Vibration and Health Usage Monitoring Section, you will be responsible for providing strategic planning, technical leadership and expertise in the exploitation of data. You and your team will support and enable the development of the expert information solutions required to sustain scientific and engineering output. You will assist in the management of complex and diverse technical data. The core activities are the management of a Microsoft Windows 2003 Active Directory Domain with Windows XP clients, supporting a variety of scientific instruments, test equipment and applications. You will work closely with industry in enabling the development of software tools to exploit aircraft health monitoring data. The post has Line Management responsibility for 3 specialist Band D staff. The successful applicant is likely to be an experienced Systems Administrator with Informix and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Database Administration experience. It is desirable that the successful applicant has or is willing to develop an understanding of military aviation engineering and aircraft health monitoring technologies. Knowledge or experience of web based application development would also be beneficial. The post is currently located in Gosport but will relocate to the Unicorn Centre in Portsmouth Naval Base in January 2010.
