Serco work in partnership with Bolton Community Leisure and Bolton Council to provide quality leisure facilities and programmes across the Bolton community. An opportunity has arisen for an External Funding Officer based in Bolton to assist the contract team and Trust partners in pursuit of our commercial and social objectives. Working alongside the Council’s Funding team, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and securing a range of external funding to assist the organisation in improving and expanding its business and services to local communities. We expect the post holder to make the position financially viable to the organisation. The post will focus on all areas of business growth and a rounded approach to public sector funding is expected. Key responsibilities and duties of the post include: • To proactively research and identify a wide range of funding opportunities and communicate these to the relevant managers alerting them to the potential projects. • To work with managers and staff to develop projects for business growth whilst maintaining an overarching interest in funding aspects of the project. • Assist managers and project staff in making a project relevant to funding criteria; explain what Funders would like to see and make sure funding guidance notes have been understood. • Work with the Trust partners in making sure that all potential funding matches futures organisation policies and helps towards corporate aims and objectives. • Work with project officers to prepare documentation in support of external funding applications; this will include reports, project briefs, business plans, project and research reports and correspondence with Funders. • To provide reliable and timely financial and management information on funding in liaison with the organisations Financial Management team. • To liaise and negotiate with Funders whilst raising brand awareness and promoting the organisation in a consistent manner. • To form working relationships with all relevant internal and external parties, including; The Trust Board and contract managers, other officers within the organisation, External Partners, working groups, national and regional funding organisations. • Identify potential to expand and grow the business through new contract delivery. The successful candidate will have relevant experience and be able to demonstrate examples of funding success. Detailed knowledge of public & 3rd sector funding is essential and your attitude and values will set you apart from others. You must be able to operate various computer programmes such as Microsoft Outlook and Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
