Bupa Care Services provides nursing and residential care of the highest standard to almost 21,000 people in over 300 homes in the UK.
Job Summary
This job is available in full and part time positions. At Bupa we expect employees to give their personal best and strive for continuous improvement to ensure the highest standards of care and service are delivered to all customers.   The main requirements of the Receptionist are: To be the first point of contact for all telephone calls and personal visitors to the care home, ensuring that all customers both internal and external are treated in a professional manner with respect and dignity.
Accountabilities
To be responsible for answering telephone calls, dealing with all initial enquiries, providing advice and support, referring to heads of department where appropriate.  Passing on messages efficiently and on a timely basis.
To promote the care home by meeting and greeting all visitors, internal and external, in a professional and dignified manner.
To collate statistics on behalf of the care home on a weekly basis, specifically occupancy, agency and enquiry details.
To forward all agreed statistics to Head Office departments as to agreed timetable.
To maintain resident list accurately, by recording any changes when appropriate. 
To accurately copy type as and when required by Home Manager with a turnaround of 24 hours, ensuring that any spelling and grammatical errors have been amended.
To be responsible for all ordering and monitoring of stationery, maintaining effective stock control methods.
To keep filing up-to-date on a weekly basis.
To assist in the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by ensuring adherence to Bupa Care Services Health & Safety and Welfare policies and procedures.
Duty to whistleblow if witness bad practice or harm to a resident within the care home
Any other clerical and typing support as required by Home Manager and Administrator.
Specific Skills
Strong communication skills with excellent telephone manner, remaining courteous at all times.
Professional, neat appearance.
Ability to manage own time, prioritising and organising work appropriately.
Working knowledge and understanding of the care home and its operating systems.
Working to tight deadlines.
Attention to detail.
Organisation skills.
Ability to work on own initiative unsupervised.
PC literate.
Regulatory Requirements
At Bupa we take our legal and regulatory responsibilities very seriously.  As part of your application you may be asked some questions that will allow us to ensure that we are meeting our responsibilities and ensuring that our applicants are treated fairly.  Most positions within Care Services will be subject to the receipt of a satisfactory Disclosure Certificate from the Criminal Records Bureau or Disclosure Scotland.

In certain cases it may be possible for Bupa to sponsor a successful candidate in maintaining their visa allowing them to continue to work in the UK and transfer their employment to Bupa.  However no employment can commence until all visa formalities have been formalised.
