This position will support Bank of America Merrill Lynch business units in the delivery of Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse projects and initiatives. The candidate will be expected to have experience in delivering large BI/DW projects in heterogeneous environments, and to multiple clients. The Business Intelligence Technical Manager is responsible for leading a team of technical experts in conceptualizing and delivering Data Warehousing and Reporting projects. The BI Technical Manager is expected to have high level of technical expertise in the areas of data transformation and migration, and building reporting solutions. Expertise in Financial Services industry would be highly desirable
Responsibilities
· Creates standardized Project Plans for Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing initiatives · Manages execution of projects by coordinating with distributed global teams · Leads a team of developers to implement key initiatives · Interacts with VP/Director sponsors · Analyzes Business Requirement Specifications · Designs solutions to complex Data Warehousing problems · Participates in triage and in production support · Manages concurrent projects involving interdepartmental or cross-functional teams · Leads projects through all the phases of Software Development Life Cycle · Manages client relationships · Exception Management—manages risk, change, problems, and issues · Excellent Data Warehousing skills, specifically in the area of ETL development (Informatica) · Excellent Database design and development skills · Good knowledge of reports development using the Cognos platform
Requirements · Seven or more years implementing BI/DW solutions, involving very large databases preferably in the financial services industry · A deep understanding of all aspects of BI/DW system delivery and excellent development skills are critical. Must have excellent verbal/written communication skills · 7-10 years experience delivering on data warehouse and business intelligence programs and projects required · Experience coordinating and managing, coaching and evaluating a team of technical resources · Very strong technical skills, specifically in the areas of ETL development (Informatica) and Oracle databases · Good understanding of the theory and practice behind BI/DW solutions · Strong problem-solving skills in complex, multi-vendor computing environments · Solid oral and written communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical topics to management and non-technical audiences · Self-motivated, well organized and have strong innovation and facilitation skills, especially in driving consensus among senior technical resources. Must be proactive and energetic in approach · Ability and desire to work within a cross-functional team environment with people from multiple business units, vendors, countries and cultures · Exposure to the following is a definite plus: Geneva, PACE, AbInitio, and Cognos Job Type: Permanent Location: Australia New South Wales - Lord Howe Island
