BASIC FUNCTION: Review Life Insurance applications and preliminary inquiries to determine appropriate action. Facilitate cases through the underwriting process with necessary medical, financial and administrative review. Serve as a resource to the field force and internal staff for case consultation. PRINCIPAL TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide consultation to Financial Professionals on potential cases via phone calls, email and web site.
- Work with all levels of Financial Professionals, consulting with Senior Underwriters regarding PPG and Platinum cases.
- Negotiate underwriting decisions with underwriters from companies with which we do business.
- Assist case managers with problem solving from a medical or financial point.
- Provide underwriting consultation to other departments within the company.
- Proactively review formal cases and review informal files to determine appropriate course of action and direct the case manager accordingly.
- Miscellaneous underwriting research in order to keep current on underwriting guidelines for the companies with which we do business.
- Participate in departmental meetings to provide input and receive feedback
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- College degree or equivalent underwriting experience
- Additional Insurance education a plus, i.e. LOMA, ALU, etc
- Good communication and interpersonal relationship skills
- Knowledge and understanding of new business process
- Fundamental knowledge of life insurance products
- Fundamental knowledge of medical conditions and treatments
