Job Description Summary With the plans for our multi-million pound Cultural Quarter well underway, our ambition and vision to make Southampton an international city of culture is really taking shape. And there’s plenty more to come, including the Tudor House museum to open in 2011 and our joint bid with Portsmouth to become the UK’s Capital of Culture. You’ll be right at the forefront of these exciting projects. It’s about leading the way, working closely with the many different partners and stakeholders that are involved in their development and ensuring that they are delivered on schedule. You’ll also focus your attention on our existing venues, ensuring that they provide the best possible user experience and maximising their income potential. Ultimately, it’s about using the wonderful assets in the City to create an arts and heritage offering that will rival any other, and inspire and delight residents and visitors. Working with partners in the City to deliver a joined up offer will be a critical part of your role. A proven arts and heritage background will be important, combined with a strong commercial acumen and a demonstrable track record of handling and delivering high profile arts, culture and heritage projects. You’ll be a highly skilled communicator, who is able to forge strong working partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders. The ability to identify and secure funding opportunities will also be essential.
