As a Secured Lending Underwriter you will strive to meet the needs of customers without risking the bank’s assets. This office-based role involves making manual decisions on applications for Abbey’s successful Mortgage Range. Using your excellent analytical, decision-making, communication and customer service skills you will work, alongside sales colleagues, within a challenging high volume sales environment servicing the Abbey Intermediary Market. You will also be responsible for liaising with Brokers/Customers/Internal customers, considering appeals cases and identifying suspicious or fraudulent applications. A self-starter and team player, you will have a high level of analytical, telephone and PC skills. Experience in a related industry in a similar lending role including underwriting experience will be required. A background in retail banking is desirable, but more important is your first class customer service.
