Vacancy Description To provide professional health, safety and environmental advice to UKHO management, staff and trade union representatives on all matters relating to health, safety and environmental protection. To raise awareness at all levels in UKHO and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation. To co-ordinate and drive improvements to promote a positive HSE culture. To provide day-to-day support to the Senior Safety and Environmental Protection Advisor. The range of purpose and objectives upon the post holder will reflect the level of experience of the individual. Tasking will directed by the senior advisor with a degree of development activities as opportunities present. The post holder will be encouraged to undertake a diploma level qualification Skills Essential Skills • Current experience in providing health, safety & environmental advise and guidance, including auditing experience • Must be able to demonstarte current experience of working practices in either facilities management, engineering or the print industry • Good communication skills, including assertiveness • Negotiating and interpersonal skills with all levels of management. • Ability to act with authority and deal sensitively and effectively when challenged • Knowledge of relevant HS&E legislation. • Well developed PC skills to enable effective exploitation of the IT facilities to hand. • Ability to plan / resource work, to meet goals and objectives. Desirable Skills/Experience: • Experience in driving substantial S&EP changes across an organisation of comparable size to UKHO • General awareness and appreciation of MOD operations and facilities. • Knowledge and experience of OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001 • Environmental management qualification • Technical discipline would be advantageous. • Knowledge of MoD / contracted external support supply chain in regards to S&EP support. • MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and AutoCAD Qualifications • IEMA or NEBOSH certificate
