Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Associate Director for Operations Improvement & Quality Assurance facilitates the implementation of key strategic initiatives to improve the overall integration of the primary operational areas of Research Management. The individual provides day-to-day resolution of complex business operations problems and develops and coordinates short- and long-term solutions to promote efficiency, accountability and transparency in the administration of research. This position works closely with Research Management staff as well as institutional officials for research, department administration, and outside institutions with research activities. The Associate Director for Operations Improvement & Quality Assurance must have specialized expertise in research administration processes and full knowledge of the primary responsibilities of pre-award, post-award, finance and contracts functions in order to effectively recommend, develop and implement improvements. This position provides leadership and operational support by assisting research management staff with data integrity and quality control. Manages all exception reporting for risk mitigation.
This position also manages special projects, including the oversight and management of debit balances, under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer. Masters Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or equivalent.
Expertise normally associated with a minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience.
Expert knowledge of federal regulations and other awarding agencies¿ policies and requirements.
Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of research administration at an academic medical center, university or institution with a sophisticated and complex research environment.
Ability to articulate policies and requirements to senior management, faculty, staff and sponsoring agencies. Job Type: Permanent Location: Maryland-Salisbury
