Delivery of a world class patient experience Ensuring that all patients proceeding to surgery are well informed as to potential risks and complications as indicated on signed consent form Evaluate patient suitability, recognise suitability criteria, liase with Patient Counsellors and Optometrists in order to recommend a course of action Ensure all patients are discharged from surgery with the appropriate prescribed medication and advice, including emergency contact numbers and follow up care has been arranged Assist surgeon during procedures, which will include undertaking role of scrub assistant Ensure that the Surgery Technician is prepared, the laser is safe to operate, all instrumentation and machinery is suitably decontaminated, cleaned and sterilised as appropriate Have excellent knowledge of the policies and procedures relating to the care of the patient and the safe operating environment To be aware of the clinic’s responsibility to the EHSSB, including having the knowledge of what constitutes a reportable occurrence Highlight to the surgeon and all operating staff of the need to abandon a procedure or all procedures during of the course of session or to advise against a course of the prescribed action if it is known or believed that in so following the prescribed course of action, the safety of the patient or of the operating staff would be jeopardised To comply with NMC’s Professional Code of conduct Ensure that the administration of medication is carried out following the NMC’s guidelines You must be a Registered General Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration Good mobility and willingness to travel Prior surgery/theatre experience is preferred Excellent communication skills Excellent customer service skills
