Reporting to the Research Director for Ink Research, this position is responsible for developing new materials for research projects designed to advance the performance and understanding of E Ink's paper-like electrophoretic display technology. This individual will be a member of a team responsible for developing new electronic paper display platforms and materials for external and internal customers. Job Responsibilities - Design and synthesize new polymeric materials with unique chemical, optical and electrical properties
- Devise new methods for polymeric particle formation
- Investigate new approaches to encapsulation
- Collaborate with colloid scientists and ink formulators to increase understanding of electrophoretic mechanism
- Aid in developing robust, manufacturable routes to practical formulations and provide guidance to Development, Pilot and Operations to implement improved E Ink products
- Plan, schedule and execute experiments
- Analyze, present and document the results
- Remain current on the latest developments in polymer science and synthesis
Qualifications - Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry with 0 - 8 years of experience
- Demonstrated ability to apply latest polymer synthesis techniques
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong sense of urgency and a performance metrics-driven style
- Must have sound analytical skills, attention to details, and strong problem solving skills
- Creativity to invent and create intellectual property
- Ability to effectively contribute in a high performance team environment
