If you’re looking to develop in a technical career with a major organization, then this is a great opportunity to play a key design role in the reliability of a nationally important, large scale power system. You’ll also contribute towards an expanding Capital Programme in the region of £800m to £1,000m, developing your technical knowledge and building a strong platform for achieving Chartered Engineer status. You will be trained as a specialist engineer in Protection and Control Engineering in our UK Electricity Transmission Construction team, where you’ll be part of a team responsible for the technical compliance of our construction activities, ensuring regulatory and safety requirements are met. You’ll also support field-based Electricity Alliance development, design and delivery organisations. While training, you will acquire certificates of authorisation in Protection and Control Design, Relay Settings and Commissioning. On successful completion of the programme, you will assume a Design Assurance role for the National Grid Electricity Capital Programme, with responsibility across the project lifecycle, from design and development to commissioning. You’ll hold a degree or HND/HNC in an electrical subject, ideally including Power Engineering modules and supported by industrial experience. We’d also like to hear from students who will graduate or acquire a HND/HNC in 2010.
