1. Confirming whether all design work is controlled, implemented and undertaken in accordance with relevant instructions/standards. Authorise and administer safety, technical and quality standards. Control and monitor activities to assess whether timescales and contractual requirements are met. 2. Plan, prepare, analyse and define site/office work. Maintain current programme of work for all staff in the group. Identify, interpret and manage remedial action where necessary. Manage relative priorities of the office workload. Liaise with other Signal and Telecoms Programme Engineering (works) groups to balance workload in all the offices. 3. Approve, establish, monitor and maintain best working practices in conjunction with Network Rail’s Grip processes and with the national organisation to appropriate standards. 4. The post holder will discharge the role of departmental engineering manager for work where the design group is the primary engineering resource. 5. Manage the Signalling Design group’s input to projects to fully comply with all statutory and regulatory provisions, including those prescribed by HMRI. Determine and authorise the procurement of goods/services. Administer, interpret and implement effective financial control and monitor whether financial objectives are met. Essential · HNC/HND or above in appropriate Engineering Discipline. · Incorporated Engineer or progressing to Chartered Engineer status. · 10 years experience in Railway Signalling industry to include experience in design, maintenance, installation testing and commissioning activities. · IRSE License holder Design Manager (S) or working towards · Proven ability in communications · D32/33 Assessor Certificate · Construction Design Management (CDM) competence · Audit competence Desirable · Good interpersonal skills with proven ability in motivating staff. · Knowledge of Contract Management and Project Management techniques · Correlation Qualification and Experience D34 Assessor Certificate Job Type: Permanent Location: United Kingdom Hereford & Worcester
