Health Safety and Enviromental Professional  [02/15/2010]



The Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Professional will have a basic knowledge of OSHA and Workers Compensation programs that comply with Federal, State and local HSE and Workers Compensation statutes and regulations. The HSE Professional will comply with Cummins policies, strategies, initiatives and goals. The HSE Professional will perform a variety of tasks to support site HSE operations including reports, databases, recordkeeping, case management, occupational health and safety programs, ergonomics and return to work activities and actively seek ways to continually improve our HSE systems.

Skills: Functional / Technical

1. B.S. in HSE, Risk Analysis, Risk Management, Biology or Chemistry. M.S. degree preferred.
2. Four to eight years experience in HSE or a related field; technical education counts towards experience, Internship in professional area desired.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, DOT, & DOL regulations. EPA & MPCA regulation knowledge a plus.
4. Experience maintaining a proactive ergonomics program and standards - conducting ergonomic assessments and providing appropriate recommendations.
5. Demonstrated knowledge in NFPA 70E.
6. Proficient in Root Cause Analysis and leading Incident Investigations.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of industrial facilities, processes and procedures.
8. Behavior based safety knowledge preferred.
9. Demonstrated experience in emergency response situations (i.e. evacuations, spills/leaks).
10. Ability to develop and enthusiastically facilitate training modules.
11. Basic knowledge of hazardous materials chemistry.
12. Experience working directly with customers, suppliers, and co-workers, demonstrating good communication, interpersonal and technical skills to maintain a good working relationship.
13. Advanced computer skills (Lotus Notes, spreadsheets, databases, work processing & Power Point.




Skills: Quality Improvement

1. Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations with respect to industrial manufacturing & maintenance.
2. Coordinates with all parties to drive an effective return to work program.
3. Provides support for internal site HSE programs and documentation.
4. Experience in Six Sigma, Lean or Kaizen concepts a plus.
5. ISO 14001 or OHSAS 18001 experience desirable.
