• Provide ASDA stores independent and objective assurance and advisory services in a systematic and disciplined approach in order to evaluate and improve the risk management, internal control and governance process of the company; • Provide effective and efficient risk management solutions. (This covers risk based approach, improving key processes, ensuring we have string financial control) • Be an independent agent of change that partners with our customers, enabling them to achieve their business objectives. • Areas of audit responsibility delivered within agreed timescales; • World Class Execution of audit inputs • Provide feedback to audit manager to assist with monitoring progress of actions • Track monetary value contributed to business as a result of specific IAS work • Capable of assessing the effectiveness of internal controls and can make recommendations to improve internal control. • To understand the principles of identification, assessment and management of risk. • To understand the governance framework and to critically evaluate the key items. • Understands and actively follows the ASDA IAS methodology with limited supervision required(training provided) • To contribute to the planning of specific audits, complete fieldwork within the agreed timescales and communicate relevant findings to the audit in charge in an effective way. • To understand business ethics and fraud concepts. Recognizes and appropriately escalates areas of fraud risk identified in audit work. • To prepare sections of an audit report to specified standards with limited editorial changes required. Provides sufficient evidence to support findings and recommendations. Plans effectively to deliver their part of the plan; • Reacts quickly to changes and agrees clear actions; • Sees when things need to be done outside of their role and takes action; • Good communication skills / confident communicator • Ability to challenge and influence others • Full driving license as some travel is necessary • Qualified ACA/CIMA accountant or equivalent. • Good working knowledge of Asda Finance systems, processes and organization structures. • Previous knowledge of US GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley and the Foreign corrupt practices act desirable.
